Why join Sleep Out?

Sleep Out makes a meaningful impact. There are an estimated 3,000 young people without a safe place to sleep in Chicago each night. Each of them has a story, a dream, and a future - one that they can build with the support and care from CHIL. Sleep Out Participants give voice to those futures.
The Sleep Out is not about impersonating homelessness. We Sleep Out to show our solidarity with those who are – and to let the world know about the ever-growing population of young people who face homelessness.

Sleep Out builds community. Whether you join an existing Sleep Out or create one of your own with friends and family, colleagues or church, you’re shining a light on the injustice of youth homelessness and inspiring entire communities to step up and protect youth.
Who: Anyone! Our community of young professionals, companies, executives, families and individuals give up their bed for one night to ensure that young people overcoming homelessness can sleep safely at Covenant House Illinois.

Where: We are thrilled to host a limited capacity, in-person Sleep Out this year. We ask all Sleepers to make a good faith effort in hitting the $1,000 fundraising goal. With that being said, Sleepers must raise a minimum of $250 in order to attend the in-person event. Participants can also Sleep Out Virtually from anywhere! Your backyard, your front porch, your kitchen floor. We are asking you to give us your bed for an uncomfortable night of sleep, whatever that means to you.

What: You’ll tune in to a live virtual program to see first-hand your impact in action. Covenant House staff, former residents, and special guests from around the world will speak sharing meaningful conversations.
