Youth Spotlight: Moe

When Moe arrived at Covenant House Illinois in January 2026, he was looking for an opportunity to build a stronger future. Within weeks, that opportunity became the beginning of a remarkable career journey.

Through CHIL's workforce development program, Moe connected with an employment opportunity at a media company. Less than a month after beginning his work with the Workforce team, he was offered a position as a Media Development Executive.

Moe quickly demonstrated that he was ready to take on more. In his first months on the job, he began leading his class in closing accounts. His hard work and determination earned him three promotions in just 4.5 months, advancing from Media Development Executive to Senior Media Development Executive and then to Team Lead of his department.

Since stepping into a leadership role, Moe has continued to excel. In his department's August performance recap, he ranked #1 across every major performance category, including:

• #1 in RAMP produced

• #1 in appointments booked

Under his leadership, his team has become one of the top-performing teams in the department.

For Moe, his success is about more than career advancement. He is deeply grateful for the support he received at Covenant House Illinois and the role it played in helping him move forward.

He credits CHIL with helping him plant the seeds for a stronger future financially, mentally, and spiritually by surrounding him with support when he needed it most. Now, he wants to help provide that same support to other young people.

Moe is working with our workforce team to explore ways he can give back, whether by mentoring other participants, sharing his experience, or supporting the program as his career continues to grow.

And he has no plans to slow down.

Moe's next professional goal is to become Head of Sales within the next year. He is also working toward personal milestones, including saving for his own apartment and a car.

"It has been amazing watching Moe set and achieve his goals," said Salaam, one of CHIL's Education and Career Counselors. "He is the kind of person who won't let anything get in his way. Seeing that determination firsthand is why I do what I do."

His journey is a powerful example of what can happen when opportunity meets determination and support. We believe every young person has the ability to accomplish incredible things. Moe is putting that belief into action, one achievement at a time.
